MA-CHIS Tribe awarded Gulf Port Soldier's Home Contract
Update: Implosion of Soldier's Home
GULFPORT UPDATE - August 21, 2007
Gulf Port, MSThe U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) announced award
of the Remediation and Demolition Services Task Order in connection
with the replacement project for the Armed Forces Retirement
Home (AFRH), in Gulfport, Mississippi. The award was made to
Ma-Chis Lower Creek Indian Tribe Enterprises (LCITE), Inc. in
the amount of $7,503,280. Ma-Chis LCITE is certified by the Small
Business Administration as a tribally-owned 8(a), and Small Disadvantaged
Business. Ma-Chis LCITE's is located at 10893 West State Hwy
52, Samson, Alabama.

On August 29, 2005 the storm surge from Hurricane Katrina forced the evacuation and closure of AFRH-Gulfport. This award marks the first step in the rebuilding process for the AFRH. All residents were safely relocated, most of them to AFRH-Washington, DC.
GSA has issued a Request for Proposals for design-build services in connection with the replacement of the Armed Forces Retirement Home, Gulfport, MS. Responses to proposals will be reviewed by GSA and a contract subsequently will be awarded in the month of September 2007. Substantial completion of the main building is scheduled for March 4, 2010 and final completion May 2010.

August 2007-Demolition start
January 2008-Demolition completion
October 2007-Design/Build start (design phase)
May 2010-Final completion
